Degree duration

  • PhD program: The average time to degree for our 2022-23 PhD graduates is 5.1 years. This is almost a year shorter than the 2022 national median of 6.0 years for physical sciences.
  • MS programs: These are designed for completion in two years by a full-time student.

Placement of Graduates

Our PhD graduates, both domestic and international, successfully pursue careers as research scientists in academia, industry, and government. The employers of recent graduates include well-known organizations such as Meta, Intel, Eli Lilly, Merck, Bristol Myers Squibb, PepsiCo, MIT, Georgia Tech, and UT Southwestern Medical Center.
