Lynn A. Melton Graduate Teaching Assistant Award
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, in the School of Natural Science and Mathematics, UT Dallas, recognizes the significant contribution of the graduate teaching assistants (TAs) in supporting and furthering our instructional mission. To this effect, the department has created Lynn A. Melton Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Awards to acknowledge the TAs that demonstrate excellence in enriching our undergraduate teaching program. The award will be given to one graduate student TA in the fall and spring semesters. Each awardee will receive a plaque and a check of $500. A selection committee will review the submitted material and make a recommendation to the head of the department.
Nominations for Fall and Spring semesters are due November 15th and April 15th respectively.
Eligibility:
- The graduate student should be enrolled in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
- Have worked as a graduate student TA for one or more semesters (excluding the semester of nomination)
- Have been responsible for teaching undergraduate labs and courses
- Have contributed beyond the requirements of the teaching assistant duties
- Have contributed to improving the course through innovative pedagogy
- Have contributed to fostering an inclusive learning environment
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students
- Have not previously received this award
