Chemistry Pathways to Building Functional Materials


UTD, NS&M, and Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

          UT Dallas (UTD) is a top public university with over 31,000 students located in one of the nation’s fastest-growing metropolitan regions.  UTD is located in Richardson, TX which is a suburb directly north of the city of Dallas.  The Chemistry Department has majors in chemistry and biochemistry with a strong tradition of undergraduate research conducted in interdisciplinary fields.  Students in this REU program will be trained in clean room techniques as they explore a variety of research topics.

          Outside of the research projects, students in the REU program will have a number of social activities as the participants explore aspects both on and near the UTD campus, but also activities in the greater metropolitan Dallas-Fort Worth area in arts, sports, and entertainment.

          Dallas is a big city with lots of possible activities for education (museums, aquariums, parks), entertainment (concert halls and festival locations), outdoor activities (both calming and challenging trails, beautiful lakes and sightseeing), historical locations (JFK Memorial), culinary experiences (multicultural restaurants with great variety of foods), amusement parks and many more.
